Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training & Consulting Services

What is Zurich Resilience Solutions’ Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Service?

Our service includes DEI consulting, assessment and training offerings to help companies develop and execute DEI strategies to support their commitments. The options, which can be a la carte or full package services, are customized for each particular organization and can include small steps for a customer beginning their DEI journey or more advanced solutions for organizations ready to progress to the next level.

The service is focused on helping organizations reduce risk related to their people or culture. Many companies want to know the right steps to take to prevent discrimination claims and employment litigation, while enhancing their ability to meet compliance requirements for equal employment. At the same time, it has never been more difficult to attract and retain the best talent. Our team has experience supporting businesses with all of the challenges posed by employee issues today.

Who needs DEI training and consulting services?

Despite years of diversity efforts, industry observers report that most organizations are struggling to show progress. The national conversation sparked by 2020’s civil unrest has brought more urgency to the goal that organizations better reflect the world around them. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion principles can help an organization attract and retain employees — a key advantage in the ongoing fight for talented individuals. Research has also shown a proven increase in innovation at companies with diverse leadership and representation in their ranks.1

Why do companies need to cultivate diversity, equity and inclusion?

The potential cost of neglecting diversity, equity and inclusion commitment is real and multidimensional. U.S. corporations have seen a rise in diversity-focused litigation brought by activist shareholders and other stakeholders. Companies face the financial cost of defending such suits, which also drain time and energy from senior executives and can lead to reputational harm. On top of that, there is the risk of loss of business from vendors and suppliers who demand that partner organizations demonstrate commitment to a clear strategy for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion. Finally, and most importantly, in addition to these risks, fostering a more diverse and inclusive workplace is the right thing to do.

What’s included in Zurich’s Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Service?

We offer a range of DEI training and consulting services, developed in response to customer demand, using the global standard from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as a guide to help organizations develop a DEI strategy for the first time, identify areas of improvement in an existing strategy, improve initiatives aimed at inclusion and belonging, and much more. Customers have told us they need guidance to understand what areas they should focus on first or which areas need improvement to show greater progress.

Assessment

The assessment will measure an organization’s standing against ISO’s new global standard to measure DEI risk. To help administer the assessment, Zurich is collaborating with Inclusion Score, the organization that helped guide the creation of the ISO standard. This relationship is exclusive in the insurance industry, allowing Zurich’s customers access to the world’s leading experts in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Consulting

Zurich Resilience Solutions employs a multifaceted strategy to develop tailored solutions that work for your organization and offers practical suggestions for turning insights into positive actions. Our diversity and inclusion consulting includes guidance on metrics and employee representation data, how to respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) or other requests from customers on DEI or environmental, social and governance (ESG) information, and improving the workplace culture. Our team can also help you comply with new regulatory requirements affecting your policies or review your practices for items that might create risk of an employment claim or lawsuit.

Training

Finally, Zurich Resilience Solutions’ experienced and knowledgeable team can provide appropriate and impactful training to help your team put your objectives into action. This includes harassment training to meet state compliance requirements, general DEI awareness training, or training for leadership on the ISO standard’s DEI framework.

In conjunction with Work Shield, Zurich can also provide customers with third-party reporting capabilities, investigations and resolution services to complement their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Employees can easily report misconduct concerns through a website or call center. Qualified legal professionals will then conduct impartial investigations and deliver fair and ethical resolution recommendations to the employer. These capabilities can effectively mitigate liability and help create more positive, inclusive and equitable cultures.
